5 Ways to a better night’s sleep
We’ve all been there, you put the light out and you feel tired but then nothing ….. your mind doesn’t want to let go long enough for you to fall asleep. Or even worse, you are asleep and then wham it’s the witching hour and you are lying awake, tossing and turning. Here’s my five tips for a better night’s sleep so you wake up refreshed and ready for more!
-
Eat a well-balanced diet
By avoiding processed foods and eating foods as close to nature as possible, we are subjecting our bodies to far less stimulants and by choosing to eat foods that provide our body with nourishment, we allow our bodies to rest and restore in its most natural way each night.

-
Skip that espresso
Try cutting caffeine after 2 pm; it will definitely help with your sleeping pattern. The same applies if you enjoy a couple of wines. Try not to have too many and stop drinking when you finish your dinner. Both caffeine and wine are stimulants and having them late at night, will have an effect of your sleep.
-
Roll out your yoga mat
Before your head hits the pillow, ease the stress of your day with a gentle night time ritual. Meditation and regular yoga practise can help relax you and are linked with improved sleep quality too.

-
Run a relaxing bath
If you have time in the evening, create a bed time ritual by running a bath, adding Epson salts which will help to ease and soothe your muscles, add a few drops of lavender oil, relax and enjoy. (Candles and soft music is optional but so worth it).

-
Turn your bedroom into your sanctuary
Try switching electronics off early, read a book or magazine, treat yourself to high quality linen. Replace your pillow if yours is a little old, make sure your pillow is super comfy, latex and foam contour are the best performers with feather pillows being the worst. Make sure that your curtains block out all light. Surround yourself with beautiful things in your bedroom, creating a sanctuary
